Carb Tactics

Stupid simple carbs!

Carbs arent bad, just use them right.

- There an ace fuel source, but use them to fuel weight training and endurance sports. Not walking the dog.

- Eat higher amounts of carbs on the days you do weight training or sprints and lower amounts on the days you don't.

- they can have a strong influence on productivity. They can seriously diminish it! Thanks to it effects on the brains neurotransmitters,  gabba and serotonin which signal shut down and recovery. Wonder why you have the motivation of a 15 year old in a french lesson after lunch? Like a fed anaconda your body is ready to sleep, digest and recover.

- as above they enhance the bodies shut down system,  making it easier to sleep, hence why they also shut down productivity levels. So turn whats a negative in the day to a positive at night and eat them when your needing to shut down. Eat them at night or later in the day at least, use them to your advantage and make them work for you, not against.

- they can improve performance. Trying to perform at a high level depleted of glycogen is not nice, ask a runner who has hit the wall! Or a bodybuilder on stage. Filling up or refilling glycogen stores at the right times will provide a source of fuel to aid performance.

- can increase muscle protein synthesis, but not by loads and isn't essential to build muscle.

- Eating more than you require or more than your muscles can store can result in spill over, meaning instead of being stored in the muscles of your thigh they will be stored in the fat cells on your thighs!
